Sensei Hamoon is Going to the Olympics

Hamoon Derafshipour is Representing Canada in Tokyo 2021

It has been announced that our Kumite instructor and friend, Sensei Hamoon Derafshipour, is headed to the Olympics Games in Tokyo, Japan this coming Summer. With multiple gold medals in the Asian Club Championships, World League Championships in Indonesia and Turkey, as well as several silver and bronze medals it all comes down to this!

Representing Canada in Tokyo 2021.

It has not been an easy journey as him and his wife moved to Canada from Iran to make this dream come true and have had to combat the obstacles thrown at them from Covid-19. But with their persistence, they have managed to get his qualification letter from the Olympic Committee to take part in this global event.

This will also be the first time karate has ever been part of the Olympics as an official sport.

Everyone in the karate community is VERY excited!

We will be cheering him on in our dojo here in Cambridge, Ontario as well as the rest of the karate community across the country. It is a once in a lifetime event that should help lead future athletes into the games.

Good luck Sensei and we can not wait to watch your performance!
