Kazoku Martial Arts Centre’s Friends and Family BBQ

We could not have asked for a more perfect Sunday during our Friends and Family BBQ. Clear skies, warm weather, delicious food, and most importantly everyone who could make it out!

Here are just a few snippets from last Sunday’s (July 8th) BBQ at Shades Mill Conservation Area in Cambridge, Ontario.

Mother’s Day High Tea

It has been just over a week since our Mother’s Day High Tea and we are super excited to share some of the precious moments we were able to capture, thanks to Sweet Sunny Five Photography. We would like to thank, once again, everyone who helped out and contributed to our fundraiser. We were able to successfully raise another $1500 towards our kid’s trip to Japan in 2021, and we now sit at $3000.00 raised so far!

So thank-you again to: E.V.O Kitchen, Sweet Sunny Five Photography, Monigrams Coffee Roasters, Le Prix, The Spiced Leaf, Play with Clay, Glam and Glow by Reema, Meals Without Madness, Langdon Hall, and all of the individuals who donated amazing prizes for our participants to win. And another special thank-you to our families inside and outside the studio as well as our friends for helping with running the show (set-up and take-down)… and let’s not forget about the Volundads!! You guys rocked the show.

What is a fitness assessment?

It is a collective group of physical activities to test your muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular health (heart and lungs), your flexibility, and finally your weight and other additional measurements.

Why are we hosting this?

To really push our members to be the best they can be! In addition, it’s a great way for us to set milestones for ourselves as a club. We will be hosting assessments every couple of months and hopefully in a few different locations to vary our assessments.

How do you register?

Contact James at info@kazokumartialartscentre.com to let him know you are interested in partaking in this challenge. Each participant is required to fill out a consent form, a PAR-Q (annually), and contribute to our fundraiser:

  • Kids (10-13): $5 (no tax)
  • Club Members – $10 (no tax)

ALL proceeds will go towards purchasing new fitness equipment for our club. Our goal, a full set of dumbbells!

  • Oldest: 65+

Required equipment:

  • Indoor running shoes

Dance-a-thon/Karate Marathon

After a month of planning I’m excited to say that our event was a BIG success! But for those of you who may not know, here’s what we got up to!

A team of us will once again climb all 144 flights of stairs up the CN Tower. In doing so we have to fundraise for the World Wildlife Fund. So to collect those donations, Autumn from ONE Movement and myself (James), from Kazoku Martial Arts Centre, came up with our first ever Dance-a-thon and Karate Marathon. Two worlds collided over six hours giving our students the chance to experience something different.

With many of our own attending the event and draw prizes to be won, we were able to collect $300.00 for our fundraiser. After calculating everything that’s been collected so far, from our event and our other team members, we have raised over $1000.00! And now with just one month to go all we need to do is prepare for the hike up 144 flights of stairs in the CN Tower.

Thank-you again to all of the local businesses who donated items for our draw prizes; including Monigram Coffee Roasers, E.V.O Kitchen, Sunset Gourmet, Sugar Berries, Moksha Cambridge, and Nature’s Vibe. Also a BIG thank-you to Autumn for letting us use her space and another thank-you to all of those who participated.
