Student Highlight

iain and liamThis month we would like to highlight Iain and Liam who have been participating with our martial arts program over the past four years, and since then have been involved with coaching as well as all of the other events we host here at the studio.

Especially lately they have been coming out and getting involved with our 12 Hour Cycle Relay, Team Training with Seiwa Kai Canada, and completing the CN Tower Climb for the World Wildlife Fund. Their involvement has helped us fundraise over $2000 in the past six weeks for both our trip to Japan in 2021 and for the World Wildlife Fund.

Their hard work and enthusiasm has not gone unrecognized and we would like to thank them for their efforts today.

Keep up the great work!

And thank-you again to everyone who have also been supporting our efforts here at Kazoku Martial Arts Centre.

CN Tower Climb 2018

CN Tower 2018It’s just been over a week since our group of five took on 1,776 steps to the top of the CN Tower for our 7th annual climb. It’s hard to believe it’s already been seven years of climbing, but each year brings on new experiences and gives other climbers the chance to test themselves physically and mentally.

This year Jeric and I took three new climbers to Toronto in order to climb for the World Wildlife Fund who pushed themselves and made it up in under 30 minutes. Our youngest AND oldest climbers to date.

Not only did we manage to climb in no time, we were also able to raise a total of $1,060 for the WWF. So in seven years of climbing, we’ve almost raised $10,000!

I want to send my biggest thanks to everyone who came out to help us fundraise back in March and who still continued to donate while our climbers prepared for the big day. It’s always a blast and next year I will be preparing another team for our 8th annual climb. If you would like to join us, be sure to let us know by February 2019 when we assemble our next group.

And to find out more about the WWF, please visit their website.

World Wildlife Fund’s Annual CN Tower Climb

13002356_818875411579211_898558819109212291_oIt’s that time of year again when the WWF asks for our help to protect endangered species and habitats around the world. Their global efforts are crucial in preserving life and reducing our carbon footprint. We may not be able to hop on a plane this instant to protect wildlife in the amazon, however, we can certainly do what we can locally.

Every year the World Wildlife Fund hosts an annual climb up the CN Tower (Toronto’s tallest freestanding building). With over 144 flights of stairs, we strive to climb the tower as fast as we can. In addition to this challenge we aim to fundraise what we can to help fund the WWF and their efforts.

How you can help:

  1. Visit our team page and donate today!
  2. Visit us LIVE on Instagram (@KMACentre) while we host our 12 hour cycle relay

Members of our club our welcome to join us for the climb. This year’s theme… Karate VS Fitness. Visit our team page to join.

12 Hour Cycle Relay

WWF 1At Kazoku Martial Arts & Fitness Centre we will be hosting a 12 hour relay marathon on March 18th to help fundraise for two terrific experiences.

First is for the annual CN Tower Climb for the the World Wildlife Fund. This will be our 7th time climbing for the organization and our aim will be $1000.00 to support their global efforts to prevent climate change and the extinction of endangered species around the world. (Click to Donate).

Second is to help fundraise for our students to have a cultural experience in Japan in 2021. They will be training with the best in Tokyo and will then get to travel across the land of the rising sun. (Click to Donate).

From 8am to 8pm we will be keeping the spin-bikes spinning, taking turns with other members of our club. Joining us will be Chris Day and his friends from 3Sixty5 Cycling, Chelsi Rodrigues from Whole Health Chelsi, and the experts from Brutes and Babes Nutrition. Together we will be LIVE on Instagram to show how our community is here to make a difference!

So be sure to watch us live or even join us at the club!
